“TREATMENT OF THE RASKOL” UNDER NICHOLAS I AND IT’S PARADOXICAL RESULTS

Abstract
In article Russian Orthodox Old Believers as the active and counter-secular spiritual movement which power amplified at pressure on it of the state and official Church are considered. For an illustration of it the historical period of the greatest oppression of Old Believers – policy of Nicholas the First, who aspired to destruction of an Old Believers as the ideological and mental opponent is chosen. However, this policy gave is paradoxical opposite results about which it is told in article.
