Abstract
The corpus data give an overview of the Progressive forms frequency in modern English. The Progressive forms become more frequent in English. The individual innovations have included some logically explicable, but actually non-existing Progressive forms into the verbal paradigm. The frequency analysis of the Progressive forms indicates that the Progressive infinitive as a part of modal constructions in English has increased its frequency in both British and American English.
