Abstract
The author analyzes the role of Russian literature in the preservation and development of the Russian identity in the Russian Federation. Late Soviet period was marked by the actualization of national sentiment and Russian identity. However, the Russian writers were forced to correlate and synthesize national identity with loyalty to the Soviet regime.
